On 5th May Hans Niehaus established HAN-Bürogeräte (Office Equipment). The business enterprise started with two employees in Bielefeld the production of wooden letter trays. Soon wooden card index boxes were added to the range.
The first company building was erected and replaced the temporary production facility in Bielefeld. In the mid-60s Hans Niehaus already employed 10 members of staff in production and administration.
By this time, the company already mantained 6 distribution warehouses and sales agencies in Germany.
Production of wooden card index boxes started in Greece. A distribution initiative was launched to sell plastic card index boxes in Denmark. At this point 60 employees made up HAN’s workforce.
The sale of plastic card index boxes, manufactured in Austria, started.
The administrative building and shipping department were being constructed in Herford. Another production facility for HAN’s filing cabinets was completed in Verl near Gütersloh. HAN’s own delivery warehouse near Frankfurt was built.
The administration moved from Bielefeld to Herford.
In-house plastics production of letter trays, waste bins, and office sets started with company-owned machines for plastic injection moulding. HAN immediately received several design awards for these first productions.
Plastics processing was extended significantly to a variety of filing systems and archiving products for the office. More than 50 new products were designed and manufactured.
Plastics production was expanded into production hall 2.
A further construction phase was completed. Hall 3 was used as an expansion of the warehouse and shipping department.
Generation change: Ralf Niehaus took over as CEO from Hans Niehaus.
Contruction of a state-of-the-art dispatch centre with room for 9,000 pallets at the Herford headquarter. The French sales company HAN France was established.
The sales Company HAN UK was established.
Increasing export activities. Plastics production in Moscow was launched.
